In April 2020, the AACF made a grant of $1,500 to the Salvation Army to support activities responding to COVID-19. The Salvation Army used funds funds to support its programs to provide utilities, rent and food assistance to people in need as a result of the impact of the pandemic.
In addition, the grant was fully matched by the South Dakota Community Foundation through the Community Savings Account matching grant program under the Coronavirus Response Fund, which matched grants made by local SDCF community foundation partners. As of mid-May, the program had matched over $111,000 in local grants made by partners across the state.
