Aberdeen Downtown Art Project Winners Announced

The Aberdeen Area Community Foundation (AACF) recently announced the prize winners of the Downtown Art Project, in which ten artworks were installed on Main Street business windows. The following were awarded:

  • First Place: Katie Haar for “Harvest Time,” which can be seen at Northeastern Mental Health Center, 14 South Main Street
  • Second Place: Sarah Anastasia Davidson for “Super Cloud,” at Capitol Theatre, 412 South Main Street
  • Third Place: Dawn Menning, “Fall Magic in the Hollow,” at Anytime Fitness, 321 South Main Street
  • People’s Choice Award: Allie Kunkel, “Bird’s Eye View,” at Northeastern Mental Health Center, 14 South Main Street

The Downtown Art Project is a partnership of the AACF, the Aberdeen Area Arts Council and the Knight Aberdeen Fund of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The artworks were submitted in response to a Call for Art with a theme of “South Dakota Landscapes.” A judging panel selected the artworks to be displayed. It is the fourth year in a row for the Downtown Art Project. The art will remain on display into the fall.
